The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced that four major infrastructure projects in the city will be open to traffic this month, according to Mr. Israr Saeed, the Chief Engineer. He emphasized that the completion of these projects will lead to a significant reduction in smog levels in Lahore. The LDA has imposed strict guidelines for contractors, requiring them to spray water on all construction sites every two hours. These developments include the construction of flyovers at Akbar Chowk and Shahdara, as well as underpasses at Khalid Butt Chowk and Bedian Road.
Mr. Israr provided project details, stating that the Akbar Chowk flyover is expected to be completed in just six months, contrary to the initial estimate of 10 months. Additionally, the construction included building 10 U-turns and renovating Maulana Shaukat Ali Road without removing any trees. The project is scheduled for completion by March 25, 2024, under a contract awarded on May 26, 2023.
